g r o w i n g

hadley was not yet two when i started my shop

blink!  the little stinker is now seven and [with a steady diet of apple sauce and cheddar bunnies] she has outgrown my available sizes.

and she's not the only one.

over the years, many wonderful customers have returned to my shop to buy dresses for their daughters - and now they are outgrowing my sizes, too!

something had to be done.

so i am happy to announce that mette dresses are now available in sizes 6 months to 9 years!

lala tada!

hadley has collected a few lalaloopsy dolls - some gifted, some thrifted - and they all needed new clothes!

i drafted a simple a-line dress pattern, pulled out my stash of wool felt and we went to work.

silver stars + metallic fringe

the first two were embellished with vintage star sequins and metallic fringe.

1/4" seams, snap closure and no hemming required [it's felt!].

more glitter!

hadley created her own dress with fabric glue and glitter.

l o t s  of glitter.

two-tone + glitter

i cut out a few more and left them for hadley to design when she is feeling inspired.

tada!

i love seeing what she comes up with - and she is so proud to see her doll dressed in her own work of art.

here is the template - happy dressmaking!

seven

hadley turned seven this weekend!

friday, her classmates sang happy birthday and shared cupcakes, she was gifted candy and a purple pencil and her name was announced on the loud speaker [the best!].

sophie's cosmic cafe
saturday, birthday breakfast of bacon + eggs [sunny side up with no yolks, please!].

new wheels

sunday, birthday party.

until now, we have always celebrated her birthday at home with a party and pinata.

but when you're seven - only a gymnastics party will do.

traditionally, i spend the week before her birthday frantically trying to finish + fill the pinata.

i had some time on my hands so i spent my evenings making "party dress" party favours.

sixteen of them [!].

each guest received a vintage gold box filled with a barbie dress and chocolates.

she had "the best day ever"!

and so did we - but then we had a little cry after.

babooshka

we've been listening to kate bush alot lately - could have something to do with the fog - and hadley has been enthralled!

the living room has become a modern dance studio with hadley [dressed in velvet] spinning, flailing, and rolling on the floor.

running up that hill

my heart swelled when she greeted me at the door today with "can we listen to the 'hounds of love'?"

luca [bringer of light] is new to my shop.

constructed in "shattered" by anna maria horner - the magical print features pink, purple, blue and gold starbursts swirling on butter cream voile.

available here.
